January Shows

Well, guys, it's official: 2017 is here. It's a new year, which means it's full of opportunity. Start your 2017 off right by checking out some great Boston shows! Here are my recommendations.

January 12th-15th
Guster @ The Paradise Rock Club (18+)
Guster’s been around longer than I have (since 1991) but their songs still sound just as good live as they do on record. Be sure to catch these Boston-based alt-rockers at least once this month!

January 13
Kings of Leon @ TD Garden
The popular rock band Kings of Leon will be returning to Boston, playing an arena show with indie favorites Deerhunter.

January 17th-18th
Dashboard Confessional @ The Paradise Rock Club (opening band: Vinyl Theatre) (18+)
Hailing from Boca Raton, Florida, Dashboard Confessional’s tracks are a cut above the rest. Their most recent album, 2009’s Alter the Ending, is a satisfying addition to the band’s hard-hitting repertoire.

January 19th
Plaid @ The Sinclair (18+)
At first listen, Plaid may sound like just another electronic band, but they're much more than that. Over the years, they've played with syncopation, time signatures, and even worked with artists like Björk and Nicolette. They're touring in support of their newest album, The Digging Remedy.

January 20th
Cherry Glazerr @ The Middle East Upstairs (with Slow Hollows)
Cherry Glazerr are a garage pop trio with a killer sound. Combining artfully written lyrics with vibrant rhythms, the band is certainly a force to be reckoned with. You don't wanna miss this show!

Wax Tailor @ The Royale Boston (18+)
Wax Tailor was started by French producer Jean-Christophe Le Saoût in 2001. With his unique fusion of electronica and hip hop, this musician sure stands out in today's industry. Listening to him is a wonderfully trippy experience.

January 22nd
D.R.A.M. @ The Sinclair (18+)
Over the past few months, D.R.A.M. has exploded in popularity, and with good reason. Although he's only released one studio album, 2016’s Big Baby D.R.A.M., it’s clear he has a knack for creating funky beats that everyone can rap along to. He’ll have you on your feet in no time!

January 23rd
TV Girl @ The Middle East Upstairs (18+)
An indie pop band with a naughty side, TV Girl’s upcoming Cambridge show isn't one to pass up. They're touring in support of their newest album, Who Really Cares, which beautifully showcases their trademark sarcasm.

January 24th
Adam Ant @ The Wilbur
Post-punk 80s hero Adam Ant makes a comeback performing his new album Bravest of the Brave. Expect a lot of new songs, and cross your fingers for some old classics ("Goody Two Shoes" please).

January 25th
Tokyo Police Club @ The Sinclair (opening band: Charly Bliss) (18+)
Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Tokyo Police Club churn out fabulous pop-punk tracks year after year. Their energy and skill make for a danceable show, one you'll remember long after you leave the venue!

January 31st
Cloud Nothings @ The Paradise Rock Club (18+)
For the past 8 years, Cloud Nothings have been producing punchy indie rock, and they've got no intention of stopping now. Their new album, Life Without Sound, comes out on January 27th.
